Against the backdrop of rising IBD incidence and the unique challenges posed by "compound prevalence" in Asia—a phenomenon where the disease increasingly burdens healthcare resources—our program was born from a critical need: to shift IBD management beyond symptomatic control toward a proactive, treat-to-target approach. We aim to equip practitioners with the knowledge to achieve deep mucosal remission in early disease stages, ultimately improving long-term patient outcomes, reducing morbidity, and easing the economic strain of advanced disease.
Each year, our curriculum is carefully crafted to address the evolving landscape of IBD care, covering essential topics such as diagnosis, endoscopy, histology, radiology, therapeutic strategies (including immunomodulators and biologics), surgical management, special populations (paediatrics and pregnancy), diet, and complications. Beyond lectures, participants engage in interactive case discussions, clinic observations, and facility tours, fostering a dynamic exchange of ideas between peers and experts.
Led by a team of distinguished faculty—spearheaded by senior consultants from NUH’s Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology—our program creates a vibrant learning community where SEA IBD experts update their skills, tackle clinical dilemmas, and build lasting professional networks. By prioritizing innovation, collaboration, and evidence-based practice, we strive to ensure that healthcare providers leave with actionable insights to enhance patient care in their local settings.
As we continue this annual tradition, our mission remains steadfast: to empower practitioners, drive progress in IBD management, and ultimately improve the lives of IBD patients across the region.
